Why it matters
Group drives and rides need quick coordination: a fuel stop, a wrong turn, a change of plan. Typing is out of the question and phone calls juggle one person at a time. A walkie-talkie reaches everyone at once with a single press.
Push to talk, the Apple way.
Odo’s walkie-talkie uses Apple’s Push to Talk system, so you can talk from the app or from the system’s walkie-talkie controls, and incoming messages play even when the app is closed.
- Hold to record a message of up to 30 seconds
- The microphone records only while you hold the button
- Messages reach members even when Odo is closed
- A talk button on CarPlay: tap to talk, tap to send
Built into Convoy.
The convoy’s creator turns the walkie-talkie on, when creating the convoy or later. Every member who turns it on can send and hear messages.
- Off unless the convoy’s creator turns it on
- Messages go only to members of that convoy
- Works alongside the live map, meeting point and arrival alerts
Private by design.
Messages are delivered only to your convoy and are never listened to or transcribed. Each one is deleted when the convoy ends, and any left over are removed automatically after two days.
- Nobody outside the convoy can receive messages
- Not listened to, transcribed or analyzed
- Deleted when the convoy ends
The walkie-talkie is in beta. It needs an internet connection and a convoy with the walkie-talkie turned on.
