Emergency SOS does not contact emergency services and does not detect crashes. In an emergency, call your local emergency number first.
Why it matters
When something goes wrong on the road, the hardest part is often explaining where you are. Emergency SOS sends a live map position to people who can help, and keeps it updated as long as the alert runs, so nobody has to guess.
One hold to alert.
Turn on the SOS button and it appears on the speedometer, the live map, navigation and the convoy screen. Hold it to start an alert, with a few seconds to cancel if you pressed it by mistake.
- Up to ten emergency contacts
- Friends in the app get a notification straight away
- For contacts from your phone, Messages opens with the message and link ready for you to send
- Send the alert again, up to five times
- Runs until you mark yourself safe, or for up to 6 hours
A live page anyone you alert can open.
The link opens a web page that anyone can view without an account, so a contact can forward it to someone nearby who can help.
- Your position on a map, with its accuracy
- Updated every few seconds while you move
- Your battery level and when the position last updated
- Whether your phone is still connected
- Your name and profile photo, so people know it’s you
Convoy SOS.
When the convoy’s creator turns on Convoy SOS, an alert from anyone in the group reaches every member and marks the person who needs help on the convoy map, including on CarPlay with directions to them.
- Alerts the whole convoy, except anyone either of you has blocked
- The person in trouble is marked on the convoy map
- Incoming alerts on CarPlay, with directions
Private when it’s over.
Your location is shared only while an alert runs, and only with the people you chose. Mark yourself safe and your position is deleted immediately; everything else about the alert is deleted a day later.
- Only your latest position is stored, never the path you took
- The link uses a random code that can’t be guessed and isn’t listed anywhere
- Phone contacts’ names and numbers stay on your device
