Why it matters

Fuel economy is one of the best early warnings that something’s off with a car, and the easiest way to see what driving really costs. It only works if logging is fast enough that you actually do it.

Economy done properly.

Odo uses the full-to-full method: economy is measured between two full tanks, with any partial fills in between added in. Logs without an odometer still count towards your costs.
