HUD Speedometer App for iPhone: Windshield Display

Your speed, floating on the windshield.

Lay your iPhone flat on the dashboard at night and Odo’s HUD mode projects a mirrored speed readout that reflects the right way round in the glass, right in your line of sight.

Why it matters

Every glance down at a phone or instrument cluster takes your eyes off the road and forces them to refocus. A reflection in the windshield sits close to where you’re already looking, so checking your speed takes a fraction of the effort.

Designed to reflect.

Everything that needs to appear in the glass is flipped horizontally, so it reads correctly once reflected. The background is pure black, so only the digits show up in the windshield.

  • Mirrored speed, unit and trip stats
  • Controls stay unmirrored, so they’re easy to tap
  • Pure black background for a clean reflection
  • Screen brightness goes to maximum, and is restored when you leave

Make it yours.

Pick the color that reads best in your car and decide how much information you want in view.

  • White, green, cyan or red digits
  • Show or hide the speed unit
  • Show or hide trip distance, time and top speed
  • Switches to landscape automatically, or lock it to portrait

Warnings you can’t miss.

If you’ve set a speed limit, the HUD turns your speed red and pulses a LIMIT badge the moment you go over, along with the sound and vibration alerts.

  • Red speed and a pulsing LIMIT badge over your limit
  • Start, pause and stop the trip from inside the HUD
  • Works with every speed unit: km/h, mph, knots, m/s and ft/s

How to set it up

  1. 1

    Choose HUD mode

On the speedometer screen, switch the display mode from Gauge to HUD.

  2. 2

    Place your iPhone

Lay it flat on the dashboard, below the windshield, with the screen facing up.

  3. 3

    Adjust for your car

Pick a digit color and choose which stats to show. HUD works best in low light.

HUD mode isn’t available when Odo runs on a Mac.
